It starts on an app or in a message. They care. They cannot visit yet: work, the military, a hospital. Then a ticket, a surgery, or a chance to invest together. The FTC's rule is simple and hard: do not send money.
Age UK notes that fake profiles and fake videos are part of this. A second person you already trust is allowed to dislike the story.
