A caller says they are the bank, the tax office or the pension scheme. There is fraud on your account. You must move the money now, or pay a bill with cards or gold. The FTC is blunt: that is a scam.
The FCA's ScamSmart pages exist because fake investments use the same urgency. You can always call back on a number from a statement, a card or a letter you already had.
