Why this matters

The phone is the keyring

A new SIM, a shared phone, or a code read out to a 'helper' can open email, banking and government accounts. If those fall, resetting the rest is easy for the attacker.

You do not need perfect English to use a password manager and to refuse codes. The habit is the same in every language.
